Paulina Godfrey has been with Hilton since July 2008 and her role is to help the company become more environmentally responsible and efficient, and provide value to all the share- and stake-holders. Based in London, she is responsible for the management, planning and directing of the Energy and Environmental activities for hotels across EMEA. This includes procurement process for all centrally managed utilities, such as electricity, gas, water, CHP, in accordance with regional and global policies; compliance with the company and local environmental legislation, implementation of efficiency and conservation projects, reporting, as well as organizational support to other departments and individual hotels with environmental and engineering initiatives, motivation and training. Paulina is an environmental protection engineer and has a PhD in Sustainable Energy Engineering from Royal Institute of Technology, Sweden, and in Social Sciences from University of Gdansk, Poland. She has worked as an university lecturer in Sweden and Poland before joining Scandic and then Hilton. Her areas of interest include Environmental, Social and Governance in the hospitality industry, with focus on efficiency, benchmarking and training. She is an active academic, author, reviewer and an Editorial Board member for a number of international tourism and hospitality focused journals. She has recently co-authored a book with Rebecca Hawkins entitled “Responsible Hospitality: Theory and practice”.
